Hey Middle School Families,
I wanted to thank you all, literally over a hundred family members, that came out to yesterday's Demonstration Night. The love of students and the appreciation of school was palpable from the cookout and the speeches to the student essay readings. The students were beaming with pride as they shared their life's ambitions to teachers, family members and peers. Even more powerful, were the gazes of admiration family members had as their child proudly read their essays. So powerful were these images, that they made for a fun video that you should definitely check out.

RE: Celebration of our SPF (School Report Card)
Last week, Denver Public Schools (DPS) shared the results for the 2017 School Performance Framework (SPF) ratings, a report card that tells us important information about how much our students have improved their scores on state tests from year to year. DPS uses a color-coded rating scale to show at-a-glance how schools are performing, ranging from the highest rating, Distinguished (blue) to the lowest rating, Accredited on Probation (red). This club will travel to Loveland Ski Area two times this winter in order to provide students with the opportunity to learn and enjoy skiing or snowboarding. These trips are planned for Friday, December 8 and February 23. Sign up before fall break to receive early bird pricing. Complete information can be found at online at DGSspecials.weebly.com or paper copies can be picked up in the main office.
Check out this fun video from the Middle School's Friday Celebration on October 20th. Each Friday, from 11:05-11:25, we get together to celebrate student successes in the class, our weekly Funky Friday dress competition, attendance awards and our much ballyhooed 'Friday Contest'. On this Friday, the contest was a dance circle set to James Brown. 6th grade edged out 7th grade in this one.
